中華民國外交部保存自清朝總理各國事務衙門成立 (1861)迄今大量外交檔案， 其中包括條約協定共3千多件， 各類邊界疆域地圖614幅及超過25萬卷的檔案文件。於民國90年, 國家檔案法即將通過，外交部將前清條約原檔全數寄存於國立故宮博物院, 共計174件及614幅條約界圖。故宮竭力協助外交部完成資料庫建置, 達成公開檔案方便查閱之目的。
